Medical Aid
Why do we need Medical Aid?
Everyone needs some form of medical aid cover. Few of us could afford the costs of long hospital stays or care for serious injuries, surgery, or chronic illnesses – for example, it costs R8 500 a night for a premature baby to stay in a private hospital’s neonatal unit (some stay for five months), and that’s just the bed, without any consultations, medicine or medical supplies. Medical schemes help us finance life’s curved balls when we can’t do it alone.
Who should join a Medical Aid?
Medical Aid cover is for all of us, especially while we are young and healthy. Most of us cant afford to put down a deposit at a private hospital for an emergency or a planned procedure. If you only join after you have been diagnosed with a condition, there will be a 12 months exclusion on the pre-existing condition and a late joiner penalty may apply and increase your monthly premium. We advise clients on the most suitable cover for their needs and budget at the time they join, and review annually when the schemes have their increases and benefit changes.
Gap Cover
What is Gap Cover?
Medical aid gap cover is designed to cover those gaps created when your specialist charges more for in-hospital services and treatment than the amount refunded by your medical aid. Gap cover offers different levels of cover and options to include co payment refunds, oncology extenders, sub limit enhancer, casualty benefit to name a few.
Who should join Gap Cover?
All members of medical aid schemes will benefit from this short term insurance and it is suitable with any scheme and option.
We have contracts with many different Gap Cover Providers who specialize in specific benefits. We are able to suggest the most suitable gap cover and assist with claims, queries and communication between your medical scheme and gap cover to maximise your benefits.
